Beginner's guide: your first week

Updated 6 September 2026 · Mafia Legends

Most new players in a mafia game lose their first week to the same five mistakes. None of them are obvious and all of them are avoidable. This guide covers the systems that actually decide how fast you grow.

The five systems that matter

Energy — your real currency

Energy refills over time and is spent on jobs. It is the hard limit on how much you can earn per day, which makes one question important: are you spending it on the best job you can survive? Running a job far below your level wastes the resource you cannot buy back.

Heat — the counter that punishes greed

Every crime raises heat. High heat reduces what you earn and eventually attracts a police raid that can cost you cash and time. Watch it the way you would watch fuel: it is not a problem until it is the only problem.

Bullets — the thing new players forget

Raids consume bullets. Arriving at a fight without them is the single most common new-player mistake: you lose a fight you would have won, and you lose the cash you were carrying. Buy bullets before you need them.

The bank — where raiders cannot reach

Cash in your pocket can be stolen when another player raids you. Cash in the bank cannot. Before you log off, bank what you are not about to spend. This one habit protects more money than any weapon you can buy early.

Family orders — the fastest early income

Your family's ranks leave daily orders: complete some jobs, buy some bullets, win a raid. They pay far better than grinding the same job repeatedly, and a share goes to your family treasury. Clear them daily.

If you remember one thing: bank your cash before you log off, and never start a raid with zero bullets. Those two habits prevent most first-week losses.

The five mistakes that cost the most

  1. Carrying cash overnight. You are a target while you sleep. Bank it.
  2. Raiding without bullets. A loss you paid energy for.
  3. Ignoring heat. Earnings drop quietly before anything visibly goes wrong.
  4. Skipping family orders. The best money in the early game, and most new players never open the tab.
  5. Buying the wrong upgrade first. Defence keeps what you have; attack takes what others have. Early on, keeping is worth more.

A sensible first week

DayFocus
1Finish the introduction, meet your family, run jobs until energy is spent, bank everything
2–3Clear family orders daily, buy your first weapon and a stock of bullets
4–5Start raiding players near your level, watch heat, keep banking
6–7Look at the rank ladder — check the level and family points you need for the next rank

After the first week

Once the basic loop is habit, the game opens up: world trade for cash without combat, territories for passive income, the casino if you like risk, and the rank ladder as your long-term goal. Read how mafia families work next — the family layer is where most of the long-term game lives.
